You’re looking at a recovering perfectionist.
After years of chasing after someone else’s idea of success, I hit my breaking point. That breaking point forced me to discover who I really am, and what really matters.
I was the consummate people pleaser. Studious, polite, poised, and always took the safe route in life, because it was predictable. Because it was what was expected of me. Because guaranteed success was supposed to be on the other side, if I worked hard enough and kept my head down. I had everything under my control, or so I thought.
Then, my role was unexpectedly changed at work as a result of a large restructuring, right after having my second child. With the added pressure of being the only income in our family at the time, with a husband, three year old, and newborn to support, I lived in fight or flight mode (helpful for our ancestors being chased by a bear, less helpful for a corporate job) for months until I couldn’t stand it anymore.
I could no longer look to a company to validate me. On top of that, my priorities had shifted massively since becoming a parent. I struggled to answer the question, “Who am I?” That’s when I found an incredible coach who created a safe space for me to rediscover who I am, what I’m passionate about, and how I want to spend my precious time away from my family earning an income. It was an eye-opening, energizing process that forever changed me. I now make conscious, deliberate choices about my career and life that align to who I am and what I value.
I chose to start a coaching business after obtaining my Certified Professional Coaching (CPC) credential from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). I’m energized by helping others transform the same way I was helped. If this story resonates with you, please reach out. I would love to meet you.
